Hooray - everyone is back!

OK, a quick entry, as it turns out that someone's actually reading this. You know who you are.

A fun & fortuitous weekend! Saturday was Take Your Daughter To Work Day. Not nationally, mind you ... just for me. Nice to have alone time with the charming one.

Then the return, in chronological order, of Eric from Germany, Echo from Florida, and Amy from Indiana.
(Dahly is, of course, fairly charming too - and affectionate, though it was clear that she was looking forward to her Bun Mom returning home.)

Did you know that Amy is playing with the Redford Symphony Orchestra (note: outdated website)? Two shows so far - the next is scheduled for March. If you're in southeast Michigan, time to go check her out.

(The last show featured a bassoon concerto with the Sinister Bassoonist - yep, that's her MySpace name - and she's in both the MySpace Nietzsche Klub and the Ayn Rand Lover's group! Hmm!)

Have I mentioned that the Robert Nasir's Musical History page was updated this month? Got the scanner hooked up and went through the Trebor 1984 and other photoalbums (from back when photographs were on paper, and computers meant IBM PC, and New Wave was still pretty new). New pix, including first & only keyboardist (well, besides me), R. L. Claypool.

Another highlight of the weekend - rock & roll with Jeff, Rob & Drew, the Band With No Name. Eventually I'll post linx to pix & clips of us jamming - watch this space!

Oh, what to Give Up for Lent?

I advise following the example of one of the good folks at The Fender Forum. Everyone should give up abstinence for Lent.

(Other good contenders from the Forum: Church, Slim Fast, Lentils, Rap & Hip Hop, and Tolerance!)

Speaking of Saints, I hope everyone's gearing up for a Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Nothing much to say ...

... my Lovie's gone away.

(Insert sad face here. I'm not much for emoticons.)

Well, she is just gone for a couple days to visit her madre. Took her pillow and my iPod and hit the road.

Time for me and the Young One to party.

My daughter, that is. (...Get your mind out of the gutter. Unless you're a roofer, or a sanitation engineer.)

No pain, no pain.

Seeing the dentist can be painful. D'ja know?

Hard to enjoy food after a good cleaning. But eventually ... my reward. Pillsbury Toaster Strudel(R) still rules.

Interesting reprint ...

Google alerts me that The American Chronicle website has published Leonard Peikoff's "Religious Terrorism vs. Free Speech" with a dateline of February 21, 2006.

Perhaps they took their cue from the (highly recommended) Capitalism Magazine website, which republished the article on the 19th.

The 'Chronicle doesn't mention the article's over fifteen years old. The original topic was the fatwa issued by Iran, calling for death to Salman Rushdie, over his book The Satanic Verses.

As CapMag explains, "The Ayn Rand Institute is releasing this 1989 editorial--originally published as an advertisement in the New York Times--because the same essential issues underlie the Rushdie debacle and the current uproar over cartoons of Mohammad..."

A good read - and while some of us wish Dr. Peikoff was still publishing new material regularly, it's good to see how well his existing published work holds up, even on the journalistic side.

(Morbidly, though tellingly, there's now a website tracking the death toll due to violence over such cartoons. That bears repeating - the DEATH TOLL over CARTOONS. If anyone was confused over the moral issues involved here - what more need be said?)

The Quest Continues...

...the quest to find pix of my lovely but camera-shy daughter!

I don't know quite how, over the years, she's evaded my lens so well. I've only recently noticed just how many silly pictures I've taken of trivial things, whimsical things, every things, and how relatively few I have of her. Hundreds, to be sure, but that's a low percentage of the total.

My amateur photography skills are, perhaps, a factor.

Happily, now that my photo scanner's working again (how many times have you read that?), there's boxes & boxes of prints to go through - and there are some priceless gems in there!

(No, the shots of three-month old Di bathing in the kitchen sink won't make it online!)

Tuesday Afternoon...

Beauty is everywhere!

Well, except for that dusty corner over there. Nope, no beauty there. But everywhere else - my, oh my!

Monday, Monday...

... So good to me.
Monday, Monday
It was all I hoped it would be.

Well, we'll see. Here we go!

Two weeks and a day left: GOF on DVD.

Update: new Trebor pix on the Music Page.

Inspiration & Fun for March (courtesy of the lovely and gracious Amy): Michiganders (and non-Michiganders willing to travel) should plan to attend the EGO trip to the Henry Ford Museum's new exhibit "With Liberty & Justice for All" on Sunday 3/12.

If you're coming with The EGO Group, you can arrive at our house in Redford Township (e-mail me for directions) at 10am or meet us at the museum around 1030am. Be prepared to purchase tickets when you arrive ($14). We will have lunch at the Michigan Cafe' on the premises.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Bunnies...

Hee hee ...

Looking over that last post, you might be wondering, did the title mean that the post contains bunny content (kahn-tent), or that the post says our bunnies are content (kuhn-tent)?

Ah, no matter ... as both are true.

Sleep, it turns out, is something you actually need. Bunny content.

A sad end to the week at Casa del Nasir for the local bunstuff. I've turned out to be very, very allergic to Duffy. Duffy is a mini cocoapuff Dutch mix who we've taken in on trial - to see if we can keep him. Turns out we can't. Amy returns him to MRR tomorrow. If you're looking for a sweet, little, charming bunny who's fun to hold, check him out!

Good thing Dahly is so very, very sweet.

As a result of the allergies, I haven't gotten a really good night's sleep in a while. And I've learned (or re-learned) that getting adequate amounts of sleep is actually important. So be sure to do it.

Not getting enough sleep really makes it hard to get anything important done. Very easy to just drift. If you're not careful, you might end up staying up too late and making something like this....

Good night.

Culinary Loving!

OK, it's hard not to hold their name against them - but if you haven't taken someone special to McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant yet, now's a good time.

Or keep it in mind for a very special surprise. But don't put it off too long. Somewhat pricey - but organize your budget to fit it in, because you deserve it.

My charming Amy honored me by letting me take her there, to celebrate Vanentine's Day, last night.

Of course, Amy would be lovely anywhere, say, working an unkempt garden in old clothes, glistening with dirt on her hands, her long hair falling in her face. But my, how I love to see her in beautiful places.

Squirrelly sez...

... have a romancey day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Love you!

And you!

Welcome to Robert Nasir's weblog.

Thanks for stopping by.
