Hi, there!

I've just received a [second] e-mail from Plaxo today, asking for personal contact information.

Just in case you are using this service, I thought I'd drop you a line explaining that I do not give Plaxo any of my contact information.

I'll be happy to forward you any contact info you need directly - but will be grateful if you do NOT put it into your Microsoft Outlook address book so long as you're using the Plaxo service.

So you know, Plaxo has been quite a headache for me on the job, with corporate clients installing the application add-on despite it violating the company IT and privacy policies. In terms of stability, the product might well be bulletproof, but it's one more thing I have to rule out when determining why a machine's gone South.

In addition, I avoid their product for personal use, for a variety of reasons.

For one example, visit http://itmanagement.earthweb.com/columns/entad/article.php/3407091 . They have an admirable privacy policy - as of the time of this writing. But tomorrow?

I'm not recommending anyone else not use the service, as it may be very useful for some folks, particularly those with no significant privacy or application stability concerns - but it's been quite a headache for me.

Sorry if this is an inconvenience.

Wishing you all the best,

Robert Nasir
